Patience
In 2001 we made the decision to sell our home and build a new house. We had our house on the market for a short time before 9/11 happened. The housing market fell and our house sat on the market for several months with little activity. I wanted to move on. I was ready to leave the house we called home and move on to the next chapter in our lives, but everything was on hold until our house sold. I was tired of having the house clean and presentable everyday with a 9, 4 and 2 year old working on decorating it their way daily.
I asked a dear friend from my church to pray that my house would sell soon. She told me that she would pray for my patience, because it would sell in God’s time. I began to pray for patience, based on her advice.
One cold January morning in 2002, I was making the final walk through the house before leaving for work and the boys (ages 2 & 4) were both challenging my patience. I stopped, looked up to the heavens and said “God, GIVE ME PATIENCE!” Andrew looked up at me with his big brown eyes and said, “He is not going to give you anything you ask for if you talk to him like THAT.” I dropped to my knees and hugged Andrew, I realized that I was demanding God to answer my prayer, instead of allowing him to work in my life.
Be patient as you wait and allow God to work in your life.
Blessings
Robin

I wonder how many times I demand that God answer my prayer.
