Looking for the blessings in the gift of a goat!
Well, White Wanda has found her way to the Wiebenga home. Sunday right after church we met Grandpa and Grandma Schoon for lunch and to exchange Wanda. Wanda rode in a dog kennel in the back of the van. She is very good with transportation. Todd and the boys made a nice home for her in the barn on Sunday afternoon.
She is very pregnant. We do not know if she will deliver overnight or in two weeks. In case you wanted to know the gestation period for a goat is five months. Andrew enjoys feeling the baby(s) move inside of her. Wanda is friendly and enjoys people and other animals.
When Andrew and his friend, Ben, got home from school, they went to check on Wanda. Wanda was acting funny, so they called Ben’s older sister to look on the internet for signs of goat labor. According to the boys she had 6 of 10 signs of being in labor. Needless to say, they were excited. Unfortunately, it is one of the coldest days of the year. Way too cold for babies to be born in a barn. I think Todd is beginning to like Wanda, or he is looking for the coolest dad of the year award. Todd and Andrew (the Goat Whisperer) took Wanda to the house and made her a home in Baylee’s (German Shorthair) kennel. Yes, we have a goat in our garage that is going into labor! See the attached picture for proof.
This goat has it good! She is living in a finished, heated garage with two boys serving her every need. I think Wanda is getting all the blessings from this experience.
Blessings
