Helping others in need!
A couple nights ago on my way home from work, I saw a man with a sign “Will work for food” standing at the off ramp of the interstate. It is January in South Dakota! It was cold and the wind was blowing about 30mph, making the wind chills at least 20 below zero. I knew that I had a gift card to Arby’s in my purse and there was a Arby’s just down the street. Due to traffic and weather conditions, I could not get pulled over to the man. I thought, “Just keep going, it is cold and you are late getting home already.” Then I remembered, I have a home to go to, I have food waiting for me when I get home and my house is warm, my van is even warm. The goat, Wanda, even has a warm garage to sleep in. If we are going to treat a goat that well, I need to treat other people well. So I turned around to go back to the man asking for food. I pulled up to him and he could not hear me, because of all the wind, blowing snow and traffic. I honked my horn and when he saw me pulled over, he dropped his sign and came right over. I handed him the gift card to Arby’s and told him to go get a hot meal. He thanked me as I drove away.
We are so blessed to have the opportunity to help others in need. It feels so much better to help, than to need help.
Stay warm!
Blessings
Robin
