Gossip – Part IV
At this point in my life, I truly try to control (at least the spreading) the gossip. I still hear it and I know taking in gossip is just as dangerous as spreading it. The most important thing I can do when I hear gossip is to go to the person directly ask if you can help.
This is risky!
· What if they do not want to talk about it?
· What if it is untrue?
· It will feel uncomfortable.
· It could be embarrassing.
· They could get upset.
· They may want me to help.
· I may hear the whole story and it is more than I want to know.
Maybe…
· It is not true – so no need for me to worry about them.
· They feel all alone and need someone to talk to.
· They know people are talking about them, but not with them. They may feel alienated.
· They do need some one to pray with and for them.
· They need a friend.
· They need help.
I want to encourage you to reach out and take a risk. It could make a difference in someone’s life. I know it has made a difference in my life, when people have taken a risk to reach out to talk with me, instead of about me.
Blessings
Robin
